Computational Biomechanics for Medicine X (5 October 2015, Munchen, Germany): A MICCAI 2015 Satellite Workshop. First Call for Papers

Computational Biomechanics for Medicine X (http://cbm.mech.uwa.edu.au/) will be held in Munich, Germany, on 5 October 2015, in conjunction with MICCAI 2015 (http://www.miccai2015.org/).
 
Join us in celebrating the tenth anniversary of our workshop, which began in Copenhagen in 2006, then went to Brisbane (2007), New York (2008), London (2009), Beijing (2010), Toronto (2011), Nice (2012), Nagoya (2013), and last year to MIT Boston (2014).
 
Each year the workshop runs in conjunction with the annual MICCAI conference, the premier meeting in the field.
 
Rationale:
 
Mathematical modelling and computer simulation have proved tremendously successful in engineering. One of the greatest challenges for mechanists is to extend the success of computational mechanics to fields outside traditional engineering, in particular to biology, biomedical sciences, and medicine. The workshop will provide an opportunity for computational biomechanics specialists to present and exchange opinions on the opportunities of applying their techniques to computer-integrated medicine. For example, continuum mechanics models provide a rational basis for analysing biomedical images by constraining the solution to biologically reasonable motions and processes.
 
Biomechanical modelling can also provide clinically important information about the physical status of the underlying biology, integrating information across molecular, tissue, organ, and organism scales. The main goal of this workshop is to showcase the clinical and scientific utility of computational biomechanics in computer-integrated medicine.

Submission:
 
Please follow the formatting guidelines available on the workshop website at http://school.mech.uwa.edu.au/CBM2015/submission.html. The length of papers including figures and references should be between eight and twelve pages. Papers should be emailed (in .pdf format) to Grand Joldes (grand.joldes@uwa.edu.au) by 8 June 2015. Full workshop papers will be carefully refereed. Participants will receive electronic versions of the papers on the day of the workshop.
 
The best accepted papers will be invited to publish the work as chapters in Springer’s Computational Biomechanics for Medicine book series. Springer will also fund the Best Paper Prize.
