The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas (http://www.meeg.uark.edu/) has two Ph.D. positions open in low dimensional materials. The Graduate Research Assistant positions are available with a starting date of

May 2020 in Dr. Arun Nair’s lab(https://sites.google.com/view/meegmmml

1.     For the first position, student is expected to carry out research in the area of low dimensional materials using computational materials modeling using atomistic and multi-scale methods. Students who have master’s or bachelor’s degree in physics, mechanical or materials engineering with good programing skills are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with computational methods such as DFT, MD is a plus, but not mandatory.

2.     The second position focuses on experimental characterization and growth of low dimensional materials on different substrates. There exists an opportunity to collaborate with national lab. Students who have master’s degree in physics, mechanical or materials engineering with experience in TEM, SEM, and AFM are encouraged to apply.

Students must meet the admission requirements of Department of Mechanical Engineering (http://www.meeg.uark.edu/grad.php) and the Graduate School (http://grad.uark.edu/) to qualify for a Graduate Research Assistantship. Candidates with excellent credentials will be considered for Doctoral Fellowships
