Postdoc Position | Mechanics of Slender Structures | EPFL | Switzerland
We're excited to share the news that we have a Postdoc opening in our fleXLab (Flexible Structures Laboratory) at EPFL in Switzerland. This position is focused on the mechanics of slender structures. We appreciate the unique perspectives that individual research interests bring, so we'll work to align the specifics of the research project with the successful candidate's interests. Possible areas of study include the mechanics of surgical knots, shell buckling, functional instabilities in rotary systems, and programmable metamaterials and structures.

The profile: Candidates should have recently obtained, or are about to, a Ph.D. in a mechanics-related topic (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics) with expertise in experimental research, complemented by an interest in computational and theoretical modeling.

Our fleXLab offers outstanding experimental facilities and a vibrant research environment. Opportunities for involvement in the teaching of mechanics-related classes will be provided both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Start date: The anticipated start date is October 1st, 2023, or shortly thereafter.
Duration: The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extensions based on mutual agreement, up to a maximum of three years.
