Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Cardiovascular Mechanics
The Biomedical Engineering program at the University of South Carolina is seeking highly qualified candidates for one postdoctoral research associate position in the Cardiovascular Engineering Laboratory.
The successful candidate will be a key part of a team that is developing and implementing adaptive, multiscale computational algorithms for (1) embryonic heart development, and for (2) development of percutaneous heart valves, and stent engineering. The applicant will undertake research for an NIH-sponsored research project and actively participate in publishing the research results as well as in acquiring additional funding. Salaries and benefits are competitive, with compensation commensurate with experience. The successful candidate must be able to interact with faculty and students from various departments.
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related engineering or science discipline
· Deep understanding of solid mechanics and fluid dynamics
· Expert in Numerical analysis and computational methods (finite element methods, multigrid methods, domain decomposition methods, iterative solvers, CFD, etc.) and computational nonlinear mechanics
· Experienced in working with 3D-CAD design software such as ProE and SolidWorks
Additional Qualifications Desired:
· Familiar with optimization theory
· Strong programming skills
