Extended finite element analysis tutorial in ABAQUS

Submitted by tvpc22 on

Hei,

I am a new learner of XFEM. I want to start some exmaples in ABAQUS. The tutorial in ABAQUS is rather crude. If any body has experience, May I have small notes on how to solve problems with XFEM in ABAQUS?

Thank you for your help.

PhD thesis Evaluation

Submitted by kirthanlj on

Sir,

one of my students is working on PhD topic " Study of cold hole expansion and evaluation of fatigue properties on critical aerospace components". His work has to be reviewed by professor of non indian origin in foreign universities. I request you to kindly help this student. If you are interested, let me know, so that I will ask my university to contact you in this regard.

Thanks

Breakdown of structural models for zigzag single wall carbon nanotubes

The following article shows that the linear elasticity theory does
not predict well inextensional modes of vibration of a single-wall

Hello everybody i m working on a project Fem erosion analysis of brittle ceramic material using Abaqus/Explicit . I know for brittle material especially Jhonson Holmquist model is best suited , but unfortunately its not available in abaqus . So finally i decided to go  with brittle cracking criteria . Can Anybody helpme to use this criteria of brittle cracking

I need parameter of this criteria like

1 .Brittle Cracking >> Type GFI>>1 . Failure Stress 2. Mode I fracture energy

Hello,

Recently I faced two questions in course that I am attending:

1) Outline the salient features of different higher order shell theories.

2)Explain why some shell theories are not suitable as the basis of element formulation.

3) Discuss any limitations of elements being used in relation to their underlying formulation ( e.g use of shallow shell theory or cylindrical shell theory).

"Classics" in iMechanica

Submitted by Jayadeep U. B. on

Dear all,

While reading some "old" discussions in iMechanica, I have come across
a blog by Zhigang to have a collection of "classics" in iMechanica.
Immediately, I searched for such a section, but couldn't locate it.  Is
it ever made?  If not, why not start it now?  I am sure there will be
many juniors like me, who are eager to read those classics.

composite modelling in abaqus

Submitted by cgururaj on

I have to analyse the jute epoxy composite laminate in abaqus 6.9. to determine interlaminar toughness of the frp plate. i am not able to model the composite lay up with the correct orientation of the fibre. so any body have the step by step procedure for modelling the composite lay up in abaqus please give it to me.

dear all,

i wanted some codes used in ABAQUS to solve the dynamic problems:

1.Blunt and Hemispherical projectiles hitting the plates.

2.When the plate is perforated by the high velocity projectiles.

hope someone will help me.
