ADINA Modeling

Submitted by RefugioM on

Greetings, I have used I-Deas previously, and purchased ADINA 900 Nodes to attempt a similar project.  However, I have not been able to find an answer to a simple question.  Namely, I have created a parametric equation for a parabolic shell, and I would like to see it appear in the graphic window. I will post the file in a response line.

Industria Training

Submitted by omobayo_komo on

Hello
My name is Komolafe Solomon Omobayo, A Nigerian student in a Nigerian University.
Am currently studying Mechanical Engineering but there are no practical knowledge being passed. So the school allows us take one year to gain practical knowledge in any place of our choice.
I wish to know more about cars because i want to practice as an automobile engineer.
The industrial training starts next year , so please can you accept me to train in your prestigious company , its a duration of 5 months
please am counting on you to accept me
Thanks

PhD admission

Hi

I am pursuing Master of Technilogy at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India) in mechanical department. Currently, I am working at dynamic buckling of thin walled circular cylindrical shell under uniform radial pressure.  I want to go for PhD, if anywhere , anyone working at plate and shell theory and nonlinear dynamics and vibration and solid mechanics. Then please let me know. I will be thanksfull to you.

Disparity in Simple Shear solution in ABAQUS

Dear All,

We tried to simulate simple shear using ABAQUS and compared it with the analytical solution. To our surprise, even though the equivalent stress and strain matched perfectly, the component stress and strain had a large deviation between the semi analytical and ABAQUS methods. The zero components in the analytical model were calculated to be non-zero in the results of ABAQUS. This paradox could not be understood clearly as whether it is a case of software deficiency or conceptual error. A COMPLETE ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM IS ATTACHED AS A REPORT.

Mode II strain energy release rate

Hello guys,

I have a silly question. We all know that mode II strain energy release rate was given as GII=KII^2/E for linear elastic material. My question is why E (Young's modulus) but not G (shear modulus) appears in the equation, because Mode II crack propagation is attributed to the shear stress. On the other hand, it seems self-explanatory that we use E for mode I and G for Mode III.

I just wonder if there is a simple explanation to that.
