PHD position

The research group Mechanics of Materials and Structures at Ghent University (UGent-MMS) has 7 vacancies for PhD and postdoc research in the field of mechanics of materials. The vacancies are linked to research on composite hydrogen tanks, mine counter-measure drones and snap fit joints in constructions. All positions have a duration of at least 3 years and are fully funded (projects already granted). All research will be conducted with leading companies in the field.

The University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for PhD student positions to work with Professors Michael J. Leamy and Jihong Ma as part of the National Science Foundation’s New Frontiers of Sound (NewFoS) Science and Technology Center.

Postdoctoral Fellow

One postdoctoral fellow position is available in the area of bioinspired materials with focus on experimental aspects. 

PhD positions are  available in the group of Prof. Stefano Gonella at the University of Minnesota. The positions are in the general area of mechanics and physics of solids, with emphasis on mechanical and elastic metamaterials and wave physics. 

Current topics of interest include:

1)       Topological mechanics and metamaterials

2)       Optimization of metamaterials and metastructures

3)       Mechanics of lattices

Multiple PhD positions are available for Fall 2024 in the Department of Physics or the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont in Dr. Jihong Ma's group. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Prof. Jihong Ma on projects related to atomistic simulations of polymers. The candidates should have a strong background in physics, chemistry, and mathematics, and preferably have experience in MD and/or MM simulations. 

A PhD position is available at the University of Minnesota in the group of Prof. Stefano Gonella. The position is in the general area of mechanics and physics of solids, with emphasis on mechanical and elastic metamaterials and wave physics.

About this position: The Computational Soft Matter Laboratory (https://farokhirad.com), within the Department of Mechanical Engineering (https://mie.njit.edu/) at the New Jersey Institute of technology (NJIT), is currently offering a Ph.D. position available for Spring/Fall 2024. The successful candidate will carry out computational research focusing on the interaction of flexible nanomaterials with biological cell membranes.
