Dear friends,

I have a question which I posted in BLOGS section a week or so back. But I have no reply / comment  from any reader of the blog.

So I am re-posting the same in this section ( FORUM) .

The query is as below ;

Generating MIST

from still water

How much velocity / acceleration (linear) is needed

to be imparted to water lying at rest (at atmospheric pressure) to convert it

into MIST ?

Modeling moving boundary in ansys flotran

Submitted by aboozar.am on

Hi

I want to model a piston and cylinder in ANSYS FLOTRAN.
The piston is moving up and down sinusoidal in cylinder and the compressible
gas inside the cylinder is compressing and expanding with time. How can I model
this problem in ANSYS FLOTRAN?

Thanks,

Hello all !

I need to build/use a 2D pseudo-spectral (Chebyshev) parallel Helmholtz solver.

Please is somebody known if a package exist with this solver ?

Preferably in Fortran …

Thanks !

I'm trying to find an equation for the velocity in cyclindrical coordinates for transient flow (starting from rest) of flow within a hollow cylinder with constant rotational speed.  Any help would be great.

Force balance for 'capture' of a seed in a river

Submitted by adrienne on

I am working on a problem to resolve the balance
of forces on a seed (very small and disc shape) that is being
'captured' on the stream bank. The density of the seed is less than
water thus it is buoyant (making the problem different than sediment
deposition theory). I am assuming that the water is receding and the
capture of the seed is the result of friction forces overcoming the
pull force of the water.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestion on how surface tension or

Validation and benchmarking problems for 3D fluid simulation with free boundaries

Submitted by martinservin on

I have a hard time finding problem sets for validation and
benchmarking of methods and codes for 3d fluid simulation with free
boundaries. Please guide me to (standardized) problem sets or key
litterture that is a suitable starting point. If there are not many
standardized tests I would like to initiate a dsicussion about what a
good test collection should be. I understand that iMechanica is focused
more on solid mechanics than fluid dynamics but the overlap is big.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Mechanical Engineering student I have problems

with finding book with solved problems in Potential Flows,

Fluid Mechanics.

I would be grateful if you could  recommend me

some book or other source wich contains many

solved problems of this matter.

Thank you very much.

Dear friends,

I want to find liquid and gas interface at the edge of the cube but I do not know how to do it. I know how to solve in on surface but I an unable to solve it at edge of cube. If any of u have knowledge please give me some suggestions.

Hello dear friends.

I am assigned with a problem to simulate fluid flow through a DAM (a reservoir) of water. If any of the viewer of this topic has worked or started working in such a problem or any open channel flow kindly email me at

mechovator [at] yahoo.com

I am currently working in CFX.

Sharing increases one's knowledge.

With best regards
