Periodic Boundary Conditions and Contact Elements with Cohesive Zone Law in Ansys

Hi all,

I have a problem with periodic boundary conditions using contact elements with a cohesive zone law in Ansys.

In my micromechanical simulations of an RVE with periodic boundary conditions I would like to have a predefined fracture path. My aim is to realize the fracture path with voronoi cells. There I get problems at the boundary of the periodic domain.

A picture of the simplified problem is attached here:

Periodic boundary conditions on a non square area

 Hi all,

I have a Problem concerning periodic boundary conditions. The problem is
that the periodic repeating area is not a square one but has an
arbitrary shape. An example is attached to the here:

If periodic boundary conditions do not respect stress continuity at the boundary....

Hi everybody,

have you ever tried to implement in Abaqus periodic boundary conditions?

I am doing this. Particularly, I am applying PBC to unit cells constituted of a clay particle in an epoxy matrix.

When I apply PBC in case of transverse shear, I have convergence problems using Abaqus standard,

so I have to use an algorithm of stabilization but because of this one

I have to renounce to the stress continuity between opposite boundaries of the unit cell.

Do you think this is normal or I am doing some mistakes?

PBC in ABAQUS

Hello everybody, i am new in abaqus, is anyone who knows how to apply periodic boundary conditions, for example for unit cell. The piece of code would be very much appreciated

for example ´

if i have on the left hand side node set NSET1, on the right hand site NSET2 than i should use equation like this for periodic boundary conditions in x-direction?

*EQUATION

NSET1, 1,1, NSET2, 1, 1????

Please help

Best regards
