I am looking to recruit a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to study, via the development of new computational methodologies, the deformation mechanisms in crystalline nanostructures. The specific emphasis is on predicting the plasticity at timescales that far exceed those possible in classical atomistic simulations, and verifying the predictions through collaborations with experimentalists. The position is available as soon as possible for at least a 1.5-year duration, with possible extension to future years depending on the availability of funding.
I have an opening for a new postdoctoral scholar to join my research group, please see attached. The project is on the field-scale calibration of DEM models. Primary responsibilities include developing and executing large-scale experiments, interpretation and synthesis of results, and collaboration with modelers to perform the calibrations.

Applications are sought for a research assistantship in the field of wave propagation modeling. The position is supported by a monthly stipend and tuition and fees towards a PhD degree for up to four years (subject to satisfactory progress). The start date is flexible (January 2021 preferred). The student will be based in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics (www.esm.psu.edu) at Penn State University in Pennsylvania, USA (www.psu.edu).
