Two PhD positions are currently available in the Computational Laboratory for the Mechanics of Interfaces at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville (http://clmi.utk.edu). Research topics are in the following areas:

1. Modeling of titanium alloys using dislocation density based crystal plasticity finite element method.

2. Thermo-mechanical modeling of damage in fiber-reinforced composite materials using mixture theory.

There is an opening for a post-doc in Prof. Shailendra Joshi’s research group at NUS, starting November 2016, in the area of micromechanics of advanced structural steels. An ideal candidate for this position must possess a PhD in mechanical engineering or related field with a strong background in computational materials mechanics.

The Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems labratory (arashmousavi.net) at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology is seeking applications for the M.Sc. program in Mechanical Engineering with a starting date of spring 2017. The funding will be through TA position.

We are looking for a doctoral student to join our Arctic Marine and Ice Technology research group at the Aalto University (Finland), Department of Mechanical Engineering, to study ice-structure interaction process in shallow water using numerical simulations.  In the complex ice-structure interaction process an intact ice sheet fails into discrete ice blocks, which affect further stages of the process. Realistic calculations of ice loads due to this process require modeling of the ice blocks and their pile-up process.

A postdoctoral researcher position is open in the Integrated Design Automation Laboratoryat Northwestern University under the guidance of Prof. Wei Chen.  The postdoctoral researcher will work on systematic computational design methods that provide a seamless integration of design optimization, predictive materials modeling, processing/manufacturing, and data/informatics to enable the accelerated design and development of multiscale materials systems.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM) at The University of Alabama invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in areas related to space/astronautics and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The successful applicant for the space/astronautics position will contribute to the department’s emerging space technology research thrust. The successful applicant for the UAS position will contribute to a University-led effort to establish an airborne/spaceborne remote sensing center of excellence.
