RA position is available in the University of Alabama in Huntsville

Submitted by eunseoklee on

One immediate graduate student RA position is available. The potential student will register to the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering and perform graduate research in the area of energy storage/conversion using first-principles calculations. Stipend and tuition support will be provided.

Any student who has a background in physics and/or materials science at either atomic scales or continuum scales is welcomed to email his/her CV to Prof. Eunseok Lee (eunseok.lee [at] uah.edu).

Open position for PhD students on multiscale modeling at Louisiana Tech

Submitted by Kmomeni on

There are openings in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design lab at Louisiana Tech University for research on multiscale material modeling and simulation. We will use different numerical methods such as Molecular Dynamics, Phase Field, and Finite Element Method to investigate the effect of micro/nanostructure on the overall characteristics of the materials under different environment. The focus is on low dimensional materials, materials for energy, and materials under extreme environments.

Post Doctoral Openings - COHMAS Laboratory

The Division of Physical Sciences and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, invites applications for Postdoctoral fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the Composite and Heterogeneous Material Analysis and Simulation Laboratory (COHMAS, http://cohmas.kaust.edu.sa).

One postdoc position at Singapore University of Technology and Design

Submitted by KevinGE on

Our group has one postdoctoral position opening supported by Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)-Digital Manufacturing and Design (DManD) Centre for the projects of design and fabrication of fiber reinforced composites, and nano/micro fabrication.
We are seeking self-motivated postdoctoral researchers with a strong background on solid mechanics and FEA simulation, and experience in composite fabrication, material preparation and characterization.

The successful candidate is required to have:

Postdoctoral Position in Applied Mechanics

Submitted by smuftu on

<p>A post-doctoral position in the general area of continuum simulations of high-strain rate impact phenomena is available in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Northeastern University. The specific goal of the project is to investigate the mechanics of cohesion following high velocity impacts. Knowledge of finite element theory, contact mechanics, plasticity and cohesive zone using customized codes and Abaqus are required. Experience with writing own finite element codes, Abaqus user subroutines and Python code will be helpful for the position.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Neuroscience (but embedded in a mechanics group)

Submitted by rkraft on

I realize this is a bit off topic from traditional iMechania job posts, however our group is primarily a computational biomechanics group. We conduct much research in the area of brain biomechanics and more recently are working to move into multiphysics and multiscale areas of brain science. This project, funded by the NIH Brain Initiative, focuses on growth and bioelectric simulations of neuronal cell networks.
