PhD positions in Wave Mechanics and Metamaterials Laboratory at the Technion (Israel)

Submitted by Pavel Galich on

Wave Mechanics and Metamaterials Laboratory seeks candidates with strong knowledge in magnetoelasticity, wave mechanics, finite element modeling (ideally of magneto-mechanical coupling), or strong experimental background in ultrasonics or magnetism (ideally knowing how to operate an electromagnet). For more details, pls, see attached file.

PhD/postdoc vacancy (4 years) on Ultrasonic assessment of the structural health of Lined Pipelines transporting heavy acids

Submitted by wvpaepeg on

Transportation of heavy acidic fluids is often done with specifically designed lined pipelines. The pipelines typically have an outer steel wall (thickness ~15 mm) and an inner ceramic coating (thickness ~1 mm). The proper functioning of such lined pipelines is almost exclusively determined by the inner ceramic coating. In case there would be a leak in the ceramic coating, the acidic fluid will corrode through the outer steel wall in a matter of hours, leading to a full shutdown of the industrial plant.

Student research assistant positions available at Penn State

Submitted by Chris Kube on

Graduate researchers are being sought to join the Penn State Ultrasonics Laboratory, which is part of the department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Penn State. Research topics include, but are not limited to ultrasonics for nondestructive evaluation/testing, stress waves in solids, influence of microstructure on wave propagation and scattering, diffuse field methods, acoustics applied to qualification of additively manufactured parts, acoustic microscopy, nonlinear elasticity, mechanics of soft materials, and acoustic metamaterials.

Seeking a PostDoc position in field of mechanics of advanced materials

Submitted by sbagherzadeh on

Dear All,

I got my PhD degree of Mechanical Engineering on Sep 2016 and I am seeking PostDoc position at well-known Universitiy or research Institute. Also, I completed my short-term visiting scholar at Purdue University on March 2016.

Post-doctoral Positions in Ultrasonics at the Ohio State University

Submitted by Ningyu Wang on

Post-doctoral positions are available in the area of ultrasonic material characterization and nondestructive evaluation (strong background and experience in ultrasonic experiment and modeling are required). The positions are supported from research grants and are intended for several years. The focus area is ultrasonic study of nonhomogenous materials like composites, adhesive bonds and polycrystalline materials. State of the art ultrasonic laboratories and other characterization facilities are available. More details will be provided to interested individuals.
