I am Fan Xie, a PhD in solid mechanics, Beihang University.
I am looking for a postdoctoral position in computational mechanics (MDs, FEM etc.) now. I have published 9 journal papers and 2 conference papers. I deeply understand the modeling of nano materials and nanocomposites (fiber reinforced, IPCs or bicontinuous composites) based on either Molecular Dynamics simulation (MDs) or FEM. We have 1-2 PhD positions for modeling the fracture and failure in nuclear materials. The funding comes from a collaborative project involving five universities and one national lab.
The students will have opportunities to work with experimentalists and other computational experts at USU and from the national lab.

Hello,
I have a PhD position available for a project titled "A stochastic and computational approach for fracture modeling of quasi-brittle materials" funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). This project homogenizes material properties using the so-called stochastic volume elements (SVEs). Based on the enderlying statistical properties derived from these SVEs, realizations of certain material properties are generated. These realizations are subsequently used for stochastic characterization of fracture response in quasi-brittle materials.
