Ultrasonics Laboratory in the Material Science & Engineering
department is looking for a PhD student in the areas of ultrasonic characterization
of polycrystalline materials, composites and bonded structures. The position is
supported by research grants and is intended for several years. Strong
background in experimental and modeling aspects acoustics/ultrasonics

A postdoctoral associate position is available at Rice University in the
area of atomistic and molecular modeling of nanoscale friction and defects in an assembly of
nanoparticles. Computational techniques will be integrated to approaches from statistical
mechanics and physical chemistry to provide quantitative predictions of properties of complex
oxide materials across different time- and length-scales. The research will be carried out at Rice
University's Multiscale Materials Modeling Lab.

Geesthacht, invites applications for a research position within the new Collaborative Research Centre (SFB 986) “Tailor-Made Multi-Scale Materials Systems – M³” (PhD or postdoc position).
The aim of this project is to combine computing and experimental methods to improve our
knowledge in the bone cells interactions with their environment in the context of bone
remodelling. Indeed, bone cells are able to sense their environment and then to adapt
themselves. In this project three main avenues of researches are proposed: i/ to study the mass
transport phenomena in the vicinity of bone cells, that is to say within the pericellular matrix; ii/
