Postdoctoral Position at the University of Connecticut in Modeling of Mechanics of Polymer Matrix Composites at Atomic Scales

Submitted by Dongare on

The Computational Materials and Mechanics Group (CMMG) at the University of Connecticut has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in the modeling of mechanical behavior polymer matrix composites across multiple scales starting immediately.

The postdoctoral researcher will use classical molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning algorithms to investigate the links between atomic-scale microstructure and the properties/behavior of polymer matrix composites under high-rate deformation.

Qualifications:

PhD position at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in solid mechanics and fracture mechanics of composite materials

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

We have an open position as a PhD student in the area of fracture mechanics of fibre composites. The focus of the position is to develop element test specimens, i.e., test specimens that are purposely-designed with the aim of checking the accuracy of model predictions of damage evolution (two or more damage types) in composite structures subjected to static and cyclic loading

Postdoctoral positions in Granular Mechanics at Northwestern University

Submitted by gbuscarnera on

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions in the Geomechanics Group led by Dr. Buscarnera at Northwestern University. Both positions focus on the multi-scale behavior of granular solids, with one emphasizing numerical and theoretical modeling of the particle-continuum duality and the other emphasizing the experimental study of particulate materials through advanced characterization protocols. Competitive salary, exposure to a dynamic international academic environment and opportunities for professional development will be essential elements of the employment conditions.

Postdoc/PhD metamaterials and machine learning - Northwestern Univ.

Submitted by Horacio Espinosa on

Description

Applications are invited for a two-year appointment as Postdoctoral Research Associate in metamaterials and ML at the Micro and Nanomechanics Lab, Northwestern University. The candidate will conduct research in the area of mechanics of metamaterials and will be expected to contribute to experimental and computational efforts within a vibrant multidisciplinary research group and closely collaborate with groups in the Materials Science and Chemistry Departments.

Postdoc position at the Physical AI (PAI) Lab

Submitted by Aslan Miriyev on

The PAI Lab is seeking a Senior Postdoc for a fully funded position (work location in Israel).
As a senior postdoc in the PAI Lab, you will lead multidisciplinary research toward creating soft robotic systems possessing physical AI. Specifically, you will work at the nexus of functional matter, processing, design, and manufacturing to develop material-based actuator-sensor-control loops for soft robots with learning-based control.

Research fellowship (pre/post-doc) in Machine Learning and Physical Simulation at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna

Submitted by Alessandro Luc… on

I am looking for a research fellow (pre/post-doc) to join my group at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy) to work on the ERC project ALPS - AI-based Learning for Physical Simulation.

Ph.D. and M.A.Sc. positions at UBC Vancouver in Mechanics of Materials

Submitted by mponga on

Dear mechanicians,

I am looking for students interested in doing a Ph.D. or M.A.Sc. (two Ph.D. students and one M.A.Sc. student). The positions are funded by NSERC and by several industrial partners. Students from everywhere can apply (there is no restriction on nationality). The positions are going to be related to:

1- Simulation of dynamic fracture of Alumina under high-strain rate.

2- Spall and dynamic fracture modeling and testing of materials.

3- Device failure modes under blast and impact conditions.
