Cylinder inflation using Abaqus

Submitted by manz_0 on

Hi All,

I am trying to model the inflation of an enclosed elastic cylinder. The only example I have came close to in the Abaqus support documentation is the air bag inflation test. However, even reading the documentation, I am still unsure on how to model the airbag before an inflation force is applied. Can someone help me with this? You can also e-mail directly: manpreet.puri [at] strath.ac.uk.

cyclic reaction force in abaqus explicit

Hi All,

Recently I am doing the vehicle analysis in ABAQUS explicit. I defined the reference point in order to get the reaction force during loading. However, when I output the reaction force in the loading direction, the value is cyclic. I applied the velocity boundary condition and defined the amplitude. But what I thought is the reaction force should be constantly increase to some certain value and then decrease (due to damage defination), other than change with a period.

Rotating Cylinder by Abaqus

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear everyone,

I try to run one case study that I got from Abaqus Verification Manual (4.1.37 Vumat : Rotating Cylinder).

But it doesn’t work, it always show an error ‘Node set assembly__m22 has not been defined’.

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this error?

I have already attached the inp-file and subroutine-file with this post.

(The present Abaqus version that my university use are 6.10 and 6.11)

Thank you very much indeed.

Local material orientation Abaqus

Dear All,

My name is Ronald, student at Eindhoven University of Technology, master Structural Design and i have an import question about the FEM programme Abaqus, about orthotropic materials.

I defined an orthotropic or anisotropic material in Abaqus by using the option; engineering constants or orthotropic (all linear elastic).

Abaqus asks for the modulus of elasticity in direction 1, 2 and 3 and the shear modulus and poisson ratios.

So far so good.
