Modelling soil-structure in ANSYS.

Hi, for my project, using ANSYS i have to build a model of RCC frame on soil. I want to analyse the effect of soil-structure interaction. Can anyone help me in these regard. superlattice brillouin zone and Symmetry points

I was trying to find the brillouin zone of a GaAs superlattice and their points of symmetry to use it in determing the bandstructure. I am using the [111] as the z direction and the structure is periodic in the x and y direction but none periodic in the z direction. I am still looking for my way in this field and i couldnt find a good textbook that explain this, especially how to find the symmetry points of a crystal whether it is in bulk stucture or superlattice. So i really would appreciate any help or guidance in this problem.

Using engineering to understand biological processes

I'd like to share the following paper with you. I think its an interesting example of where
engineering knowledge can be used to help understand biological processes. We used microscope work and finite element analysis to test a hypothesis as to how a biological structure, crimp, forms in tendons. We'd like to continue this work, so all comments welcome.

Hardness value from Nanoindentation Curve

Hi,

Is there anyone aware of the reason why there is a surge in hardness value during the initial stages of penetration in nanoindentation curve. In a plot of hardness vs displacement into surface, I record a high value during the initial stages of the run. I am little confused about the reason.

Hi,

I'm looking for tutorials or example problems on carrying out Fluid Structure Interaction simulations using Abaqus.

I have a large amount of experience with Abaqus Standard however Abaqus CFD is very new to me. Would anyone have the training course notes on either "introduction to "ABAQUS/CFD" or "FSI Simulation with Abaqus"? If so, I'd really appreciate a copy.
