Study on electroelastic field concentration around the electrode tip in multilayer ferroelectric actuators

Submitted by Xujun Zhao on

Distribution of electromechanical field near electrode tips is closely related to the reliability of ferroelectric multilayer actuators. In this paper, the deformation and stress concentrations around the electrode tip in two multilayer actuator designs, partially and fully cofired, are investigated by means of experimental measurement and numerical simulations. The digital speckle correlation method (DSCM) is used to measure the full displacement field near the electrode tip with the high spatial resolution.

Membrane interactions control residues fluctuations of outer membrane porins

Submitted by Azim B Besya on

Bacterial outer membrane porins (Omp) that have robust ß-barrel structures, show potential ap-

plications for nanomedicine devices in synthetic membranes and single molecule detection biosensors.

Here, we explore the conformational dynamics of a set of 22 outer membrane porins, classified into

five major groups: general porins, specific porins, transport Omps, poreless Omps and composed

pores. Normal mode analysis, based on mechanical vibration theory and elastic network model, is

Simulation ENF Specimen with Fibre Metal Laminates in ABAQUS

Submitted by DaniBa on

Hello everybody,i am trying to analyze a Fibre Metal Laminate ENF specimen for crack porpagation with ABAQUS. Therefore i am using the VCCT method. The model is running, but not with the expected outcome. The problem is that there is no crack propagation, as Mode II energy release rate is Zero. I really don't know why. I am using the "composite layup" function with continuum sheels and SC8R reduced integration continuum shell elements. To get an ENF specimen iam stacking this layup and model a frictionless contact between.

New perspective on Couple Stress theory resolving the indeterminacy issue

Submitted by Ali_Hadjesfandiari on

Dear fellow Mechanicians,We have done this research on couple stress theory which we believe has resolved the problem of indeterminacy in the spherical part of the couple-stress tensor and the appearance of the body couple in the constitutive relation for the force-stress tensor  (Mindlin and Tiersten, 1962).I humbly request you to read the paper and give me your feedback. I believe you would agree this is an important issue in Continuum Mechanics which can open up new frontiers.Sincerely,
