Two elementary questions on micromechanics
Dear all,
Could anyone help a beginner to solve the following two questions in Qu's book, Fundamentals of Micromechanics of Solids?

Postdoctoral positions are currently available at MIT's Department of Materials Science and Engineering for individuals with a strong background in materials simulations. Experience in atomistic methods (both classical potential or first principles) or mesoscale methods (e.g. phase field or dislocation dynamics) is preferred. Projects will focus on several different aspects of grain boundary and heterophase interface properties in metals. There are no citizenship requirements associated with these
The objective of the workshop, co-organized by Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and Middle East Technical University, is to discuss the present status of physics based constitutive modelling of metallic materials and associated experimental methods.
The Workshop is funded by the European Commission's Integration and Enlargment Programme. There is no cost for attending the Workshop. A limited number of scholarships is available for participants from the target countries (see attached flyer).
The Computational Bioengineering Group in the School of EPS at Heriot-watt University, UK has three PhD studentships available.
*Please check following details before apply as they have different values and application procedures as well as closing dates.
*Please indicate which studentship you are interested in when making the informal enquiry to Dr Yuhang Chen (y.chen [at] hw.ac.uk)

In addition to the ASME awards related to the Applied Mechanics Division, some prestigious society awards will be given to mechanicians at the IMECE, Houston, Texas, in November 2012.
Professor Jan Achenbach of Northwestern University will receive the ASME Medal. [ASME Medal, established in 1920, is the highest award that the Society can bestow and is to recognize “eminently distinguished engineering achievement.” Only one ASME Medal may be awarded annually.]
Hello, I would like to know under what situation will a stiffness matrix in a FEM problem become non-symmetric? Is there any good reference to this topic? Thanks.
hey there,
please, how can I define the mass for implicit dynamic analysis (i.e; seismic loading) ???
My material is C3D8 if this information is usefull!
