ABAQUS load/surface coupling. User element loads – VUEL and VDLOAD

Submitted by skiller on

Hi,

I am attempting to couple a moving multi-body load to a surface using ABAQUS/explicit, i.e. the loading varies depending on the surface displacement at the previous time step.

I realise that VDLOAD cannot access values such as element displacement directly but can access variables using tools such as utility subroutines e.g. UEXTERNALDB.  The only problem is that such utility routines only seem to work for ABAQUS implicit.

Similarly vgetvrm can be used to output stress values but not displacement.

Stress-strain hysteresis model

Submitted by Rani on

Hi all,

Is it possible to model stress-strain hysteresis loops (with isotropic or/and kinematic hardening) without using rate quations? For the case of monotonic loading, bilinear or trilinear  hardening models can be easily written. But in the case of cyclic loading can the Bauschinger effect be incorporated in a simply manner?

Boundary Conditions in Unit Cell with ABAQUS

Submitted by M.A. Rahman on

Hey,

I am trying to do simulation of one eighth of the unit cell with single void at the center in ABAQUS. I have problem with boundary conditions. I am using *Equation constraint in ABAQUS. But it is not working properly. I can not figure it out which one or two should be my control points or master nodes and what DOF should be used. Can anyone give me suggesations regarding this problem. Thanks in advance.

Local water slamming impact on sandwich composite hulls

Submitted by kaushik das on

Recently we analyzed water-slamming impacts on sandwich composite hulls. Water slamming impact problems are very interesting problems involving fluid-structure interactions.  A link to our paper and the abstract are given below. I hope that you will find the paper interesting. Please feel free to write your comments below.

ANSYS MPC-184

Submitted by Pooyan on

Hello

I want to model a 2-D frame with BEAM3 element as beam and columns. As I know the
connection between the beam and the column created by ANSYS is rigid. My aim is
to create an hinge connection between the beam and the column.

My problem is modeling this hinge connection, I used MPC184-revolunt joint but I
don't know how to model hinge by MPC184-revolunt element correctly.

Can someone help me to model it?

Best
