half ph.d position on MD simulation of surface fluid at Leibniz Universtät Hannover, Germany

Submitted by wshan on

hi,

There is a half ph.d position (about 1000 euro per month after tax and all kinds of insurances) immediately avaialbe at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany. The work is on MD simulation of fluid-surface interaction.  Experience on finite element, molecular dynamics and computational fluid dynamics is highly desired. For those interested, please send your application to: shan [at] ibnm.uni-hannover.de

A postdoctoral research position at Nanyang Technological University

Submitted by Kun Zhou on

An enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher is sought to work in the area of computational biomechanics by Dr. Kun Zhou’s group in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The objective of the research is to study the tribological behaviors and damage mechanisms of joints and implants.  The candidates should have relevant research expertise, experience in numerical modeling, and excellent writing skills. The contract will be one year and renewable subject to performance.

3D XFEM convergence chaos

Submitted by mmaam on

Hello everybody

could anyone please tell me how to improve the convergence when using XFEM in Abaqus 6.10. I have tried small min increment 2.5e-16 and a total no of increments 1e9. Also, I have changed the control parameters to discontinuous analysis Io=8, IR=10, and IA=20 but actually I was not able to persuade XFEM to finalise the job.

Please help as all my life is waiting at that point.

post tension in Abaqus

Submitted by Tima on

Hello,

Am working on post tension prestressed concrete with Abaqus,

1-  I would like to know where to find the "initial conditions option and prestress hold" in which module??

2- Rebar option: as per the Help, it is mentioned that i can define a rebar as individual element not as rebar layer in a shell/membrane element. but also couldn't be able to find how and in which module?

Any suggestions?

Wating for a quick feedback

thanks

Postdoc Position in Computational Nanomechanics and Multiscale Modeling at Columbia University

Submitted by Baoxing Xu on

The energy/bio/nanomechanics group under the direction of Prof. Xi Chen at Columbia University is looking to recruit a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to study, based on computational nanomechanics and multiscale modeling, the mechanisms of energy absorption, conversion, harvesting, and storage using nanomaterials. The initial appointment is one year and the position can be renewed based on performance.

Plotting the Johnson-Cook strength model

Submitted by HS_impact on

I'm trying to plot the stress-strain curve described by the Johnson-Cook strength (and eventually damage) models. The strength model is defined as:

σ=[A+Bεn][1+C ln(ε_dot*)][1-T*m]

where A, B, C, n, and m are material constants, ε_dot* is the non-dimensionalized strain rate, and T* is the homologous temperature where T*=(T-T0)/(Tmelt-T0)
