How to write an input ABAQUS file containing UMAT and USDFLD together

Submitted by Mehdi Naderi on

Hi everyone,

I am trying to model composite failure in abaqus. I used USDFLD to check different failure mode (fiber tension/compression, matrix tension/compression,..) based on available theory of failure. After checking the failure, if any element fails, the material property like stiffness will suddenly reduces to near zero. At this time i need to chnage material stiffness in UMAT and getting new stress distribution.

My problem is in the input file (inp file) how can I use both command for USDFLD and UMAT?

Here is a part of my input file:

IMECE 2011: Minisymposium on Multiphysics Simulations and Experiments for Solids

Submitted by Harold S. Park on

Dear Colleagues:

We would like to invite you to submit an abstract for the 2011 ASME
IMECE in Denver, to be held November 11-17, 2011.  Our minisymposium
is on "Multiphysics Simulations for Solids", and is the
continuation of a very successful minisymposium held for the past 4 years
that have resulted in more than 50 presentations at the 2009 and 2010 IMECE conferences.  This year's focus areas
are:

1.Multiphysics modeling, simulation and experiments of electromechanical materials and systems

STUDY OF THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF DRY CONTACTS IN THE BRAKE DISCS « APPLICATION OF SOFTWARE ANSYS v11.0»

Submitted by belhocineali on

Abstract: The braking operation is a process which converts the kinetic energy and the potential energy of the vehicle into other energies. The major part of the mechanical energy is transformed into heat. During the braking phase, the frictional heat generated at the interface disc - pads can lead to high temperatures.

[ANSYS] Composites. Problems using shell181 at postproc and tsai-hill criterion

Submitted by ferraz75 on

Hi all,

I've modeled a composite sandwitch with ANSYS with a pressure. The element chosen was SHELL181.

I want to know the Stresses in the x, y and xy directions; the displacements and the deformations only in a few points so as to compare with the Navier and Rayleigh-Ritz solutions made following Reddy's book.

1.-The first problem is that I don't know how to ask ANSYS to list the displacements and deformations.

2.-The second one is that I know how to ask ANSYS to list all the elements in a layer,
