FEM simulation on damage of brittle materials with Abaqus on mesoscale

Submitted by yoyo Li on

Hi,

I'm a fresher in abaqus. Now I'm trying to simulate the damage of brittle kind of materials, like concrete with abaqus on mesoscale. But there are some problems now...

The random meso-structure has already been generated by matlab, but I don't know how to import the information of the geometry which are some coordinates? I find the file formats which could be read by abaqus, like Autocad .dxf,.step...but I'm not sure how to do it exactly since geometry information are in terms of coodinates in matlab.

Dynamic simulations with nonlinear material into Explicit

Submitted by malbi on

Hi all,

I am new in the Forum, and I am looking for some informations regarding how to simulate nonlinear material in explicit.

I am tryng to analyse the behaviour of a roller rolling on the sand (or mud), but the results I get with a basic elasto-plastic material are not very accurate, expecially because I cannot set the tension allowed in the sand to be zero.

Other ways to input nonlinearity in Explicit are always refused by ABAQUS. Is there any way to get something more accurate?

Wanted: Fast FEA Solvers...

Submitted by Ajit R. Jadhav on

Summary:

I am thinking of informally conducting a specific case-study concerning the FEA solvers. The reference problem is a very simple but typical problem from stress analysis, leading of course to the linear systems: Ax = b and Ax = Lx.

I seek advice as to what software libraries currently available in the public domain would be best to use---the ones that would be fastest in terms of execution time for the reference problem.

Some problems in the paper:" Haversian cortical bone model with many radial microcraks: An elastic analytic solution".

Dear all,

I have read the paper titled Haversian cortical bone model with many radial microcraks: An elastic analytic solution. My problems and the paper are attached.I hope you can see the problems and the corresponding paper. Thanks for your help.

Abaqus subroutine for the Chaboche elasto-viscoplastic model

Submitted by Barbara on

Dear community,

I need to implement the Chaboche elasto-visco-plastic model (with damage and without damage) into an Abaqus subroutine (VMAT or UMAT). However, I don't have any experience and the model is not so easy. Can anyone help me in some way?

 Thank you very much.

ESPI interferometer with radial sensibility

Submitted by jrpmichel on

hi all.

some time ago. i was measured the strees intesity factor (SIF) means electronic speckle pattern interferometry. i remeber used two equationes (in polar system) to compute by laest square method the KI and KII factors from measured displacement in the x and y directions.

my question is: do you find some utility or advanage develop a interferometer with radial sensibility?, i appraise your opinion or any suggestion

thanks

About ABAQUS input file

Submitted by adarshchatra on

Hi, i am adarsh, graduate student in  geotechinical engg

I am new to abaqus.

I have to  use UMAT written in fortran  for my projec.

I need to know or anybody having documentation about  what is inutfile, UMAT, SDVINI (Related to geoechnical engg ) e.t.c so that i can learn regarding the same.

Postdoctoral Position in Computational Mechanics

Submitted by John E. Dolbow on

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Duke Computational Mechanics Laboratory, beginning in September of 2010 (with flexibility on timing).  Funding for the fellowship concerns research in the simulation of dynamic fracture of polycarbonate.  The ideal candidate will have experience in some combination of the following areas (in no particular order of importance):
