Travel Fellowship for 8th International Workshop on Piezoresponse Force Microscopy and Nanoscale Electromechanics

Submitted by jiangyuli on

Application for travel fellowship is now solicited for US postdocotoral scholars and graduate students to participate 8th International Workshop on Piezoresponse Force Microscopy and Nanoscale Electromechanics of Polar Materials, to be held in Beijing, China, August 25-27, 2010. Detailed information on the workshop can be found at http://www.ustb.edu.cn/materials/files/pfm/index.html.

coupled-Field Analysis

Submitted by sagar_009 on

hi all,

In coupled field analysis, the first step is to do thermal analysis, then these thermal results will be imported to structural analysis then the couled analysis is carried out.

My question is,

for example if the body is subjected to 300deg C. The thermal analysis is carried out with 300deg C.

Postdoctoral Position in Biomedical Engineering

Submitted by rugonyis on

A postdoctoral research position is available in Dr. Rugonyi’s lab in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Division of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR.  We are looking for a self-motivated researcher to work full time on projects related to blood flow dynamics and biotransport.  The selected candidate will have many opportunities to collaborate with the researchers in our team as well as across the university and to generate new approaches to study blood flow, biotransport and/or responses of the underlying tissue.

Reinforced Concrete in ANSYS

Submitted by Jeffrey W. Kemper on

I am conducting a senior design project in ANSYS.  I am modeling a folded reinforced concrete plate and have never used ansys before.  Does anyone have any tutorials that involve non-linear analysis?  I am trying to get a force vs. deflection curve and I am having troubles.

 Thanks

Applying heat flux for a specific amount of time using ANSYS

Submitted by daltoy3 on

Hi everyone,

how can I apply a 'X' amount of heat flus for a specific amount of time? It'll be helpful to include the steps especially for the part on specifying the amount of injection time (say 3 micro seconds)

Thanks!!

Find arrest time of crack by using strain gages

Submitted by Nguyen Van Chau on

I have experiment by using strain gages series which mounted along crack path propagation direction, I can find exactly the initatial time of crack but not know how to find arrest time of crack. Crack tip stops between 2 strain gages and the signal of them can be got. Following is the Figure of strain gage mounted on specimen.

The J integral

Submitted by Zhigang Suo on

For a crack in an elastic body subject to a load, the elastic energy stored in the body is a function of two independent variables: the displacement of the load, and the area of the crack. The energy release rate is defined by the partial derivative of the elastic energy of the body with respect to the area of the crack.

Analytic Vs Experimental Solution for a simple beam experiment

Submitted by Zartasha Mustansar on

Dear Abaqus Users.

Can anyone pleasehelp me regarding the solution of a simple beam experiment.

I am trying to findthe tip displacement of a cantilever beam and compare the outputs with"Analytic solution" to confirm FE results.

The assumptions thatI am following are:

Length=200mm

Width=20mm

Depth/Thickness=25mm

Force/Load = 100N(concentrated force)

E=209.E3

Poisson's ratio=0.3

Number of elementsused for meshing = 29

Types of elements Iam using for Cantilever beam are:
