Remeshing in Abaqus/ Explicit

Submitted by tahsinopoz on

Hi Dear IMechanica User

I have faced up a problem during micro-scale cutting using abrasives. I am trying to model this process using Abaqus/explicit and with remeshing module. but currently there doesnt exist any remeshing technique in abaqus/explicit. Could you please suggest the way for doing this simulation by using remeshing technique in Abaqus/explicit. Abaqus/standard is not helpfull to model cutting simulation. this is because i am using Abaqus/explicit by the way.

I am awaiting your valuable suggestions and helpfull informations.

Next April(2010) I will be a first year Ph.D student (Graduate School of Engineering, Division of Human Mechanical Systems and Design, Research Group of Micromechanical Systems). I got my Master degree in General Mechanics and Mechanics Foundations from Harbin Institute of Technology. I know that most of you are very learned man in mechanics, I hope I can enrich my faculty and knowledge from your wisdom and insights.

Shell vs. brick elements in buckling analysis

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Dear All:

I have a structural problem which deals with "Buckling" analysis of a boom with a rectangular cross-sectional area

and 0.25 in. thickness.

Can I use brick element (8 nodes) instead of shell element to simulate buckling of this type of structure?

Thank you for your insight.

software for strain field measurement in coupon tension tests

Submitted by schuffe on

HI,

i am looking into strain field measurement for coupon tension tests for the purpose of correlation to fea results . a collegue told me that there is an open source project

which calculates strain field from camera images. does anybody know something about it?

Cheers,
