PhD position available in computational mechanics at University of Rhode Island

Submitted by Hongyan Yuan on

I am looking for a PhD student to work on molecular and cellular biomechanics. This position will be available starting in this coming fall or spring semester in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Systems engineering at University of Rhode Island.

Prior experience in cellular biomechanics or molecular simulations is a plus. Interested candidates are encouraged to send a CV to Dr. Hongyan Yuan at (hongyan_yuanhongyanyuan [at] seas.harvard.edu (@uri.edu)).

Importing strain values in XFEM

Submitted by sam_uk_2000 on

Hi,

Does anyone know how to import the strain values from simulation run in one model, into an XFEM model? I am trying to model creep seprately in one model, and wanted to import the strain values of each step in that model (10 steps, representing 100 yars), into an XFEM model to find out when the crack initiates and propagates in duration of 100 years.

Thank you very much,

Sam

Composite crushing + CZONE application

Submitted by davidrbmelo on

Hello,

I am modelling a crushing simulation of a composite corrugated coupon using Abaqus/Explicit and CZONE Abaqus' application.

I am modeling the coupon using S4R elements and the impactor as a discrete rigid shell plate with a slow constant crushing speed or high initial velocity for quasi-static and dynamic crushing simulations respectively.

I am using Hashin damage in Abaqus/Explicit and Hashin and also Tsai-Wu on CZONE application.
