Continuum Modeling of Nonlinear Vibration of Graphene Resonators and Graphene-Based Mass Detection

Submitted by Kilho Eom on

We have employed continuum elastic model such as plate model for understanding the nonlinear vibration behavior of monolayer graphene and graphene resonator-based mass sensing. This work was published in Nanoscale Research Letters (Vol. 7, Art No. 499, 2012).

Crushable Foam Plasticity Model (Abaqus 6.10)

Submitted by Sandip Haldar on

I am trying to perform simulation of Crushable Foam Plasticity model. However, I am getting convergence error

***NOTE: THE SOLUTION APPEARS TO BE DIVERGING. CONVERGENCE IS JUDGED UNLIKELY.

***ERROR: TOO MANY ATTEMPTS MADE FOR THIS INCREMENT

Can someone please help. I have attached the image of Abaqus input data.

Thanks a lot in Advance.

The accident
was caused by gas release and subsequent explosion. There were 11 people died.
The accident involved a well integrity failure followed by a loss of
hydrostatic control of the well. BOP emergency functions failed to seal the
well after the initial explosions.

ASME Applied Mechanics Division Call for Award Nominations

Submitted by Kenneth Liechti on

The Applied Mechanics Division seeks nominations for the awards listed below. All awards are international. Each nomination should include a nomination form and 4-5 letters of support, as described at http://www.asme.org/Governance/Honors/SocietyAwards/Nominate.cfm.

In recentyears, millions of solar panels have been placed on roofs around the world. Discuss how safe are they? Discuss the hid

Submitted by Ernest Appiah on

Installing

solar panels on rooftops are obviously a high risk activity. There are a number

of hazards such as working at heights which could lead to falls from heights or

falling objects. Also slippery roof surfaces, damaged roofs, electrical

discharge from uninstalled panels, electrical fitting and equipments are all

potential hazards. All these, when not properly controlled could lead to

undesired conquences.
