PhD Positions in Fluid-Structure Interaction

Submitted by Uttam K. Chakravarty on

PhD positions are available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Orleans, starting in the spring 2013. Applicants with strong background in the areas of solid mechanics, composite structures, finite element analysis, and fluid-structure interaction (using Abaqus or ANSYS) are encouraged to apply. The research projects are on small-scale unmanned aerial systems. Applicants can learn more about the PhD program from the website, http://coe.uno.edu/coe_web/graduate/phd.htm.

Finite difference method for elasticity

Submitted by zahid R on

I am trying to solve elasticity equations by Finite Differnce Method using matlab. i am feeling some problems in applying external loading in form of distributed load. i have discritized the displacemet equation but unable to apply distributed laoded in form of deformation. Can some one help me how to apply stress boundry condition (neumann BC)?

non linear buckling analysis on a pipeline using ansys

Submitted by sreesarinvs on

Hi,

I am doing buckling analysis of a pipe with liner inside it. I did eigen buckling on the problem. buckling pressure from my calculation is 15.83Mpa  and from ansys it is 15.19Mpa, so I am pretty happy with that. But i would like to do nonlinear buckling analysis on the same problem as a part of my project.

can anyone suggest how to do it using ansys 12,mechanical apdl

Thanks
