Hi everybody
I'm searching for the following papers
A.C. Kaya and F. Erdogan :"Stress Intensity Factors and COD in an Orthotropic Strip", Int J Fract (1980), pp 171-190
D. S. Dugdale "Yielding of Steel Sheets Containing Slits" J Mech Phys Solids, Vol 8 (1960), p 100-104
G I Barenblatt. The mathematical theory of equilibrium cracks in brittle fracture. Adv. Appl. Mech., pages 55-129, 1962.
Thanks for help
Hi .,,I applied heat flux in my model(mechanical APDL-ANSYS) but ANSYS calculate HEATFLUX for whole period of time..It MEANS AS I SELECT HIGHER TIME STEPS THE RESULTANT NODAL TEMPRATURES ARE HIGHER(INSTEAD OF LOWER TEMPRATURES AS A RESULT OF COOLING)..CAN anyone help me with applying heat flux for a short period of time(0.2 second) in ANSYS.I would be highly appreciated for your kind support.
Does anyone know of an employment website that caters to scientists? All the sites I have tried (Dice, ZipRecruiter, TechCareers, JobFox, Monster.com etc.) have been a disappointment. They send me tons of spam about jobs in sales (or other vague categories) with "unlimited earnings potential", and for only $99 they'll teach me how to convert my resume into ASCII format!

the iMAM is welcoming applications from outstanding post-doctoral researchers from outside the UK seeking research experience in our computational mechanics group. The successful candidate would join a group of 7 post-docs and 7 PhD students led by four academics and, in particular, an ERC Starting Independent Research Group.
Email stephane dot bordas at gmail dot com for details.
Best regards from Cardiff,

Hi HOW CAN I APPLY HEAT FLUX FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IN TRANSIENT THERMAL(ansys)..I applied heat flux using table array parameters but as time goes on (higher time steps)Ansys consider heat flux for whole time step,,,while I have heat flux just for 0.2 on the area.
New question!
I want to explore the same problem in two-dimensional structure (e.g. thin plate).
According to Love simplification, the cross section rotates but the shear
deflection is neglected. This means the edge cross section is not
vertical actually. Can I still assume the shear force on the edge cross
section is always vertical? e.g. free boundary condition on a circular plate under a concentrated in-plane edge force.

Dear Everyone,
Now, I am writing Abaqus’s subroutine (Vumat) for modelling fracture and damage in Ferritic Steels.
The failure theory I have to use in my PhD research is the Rousselier’s Theory.
I try to write Vumat by following the procedure of Rousselier model integration in PhD thesis namely ‘3D CAFE modelling of transitional ductile - brittle fracture in steels’ that can see from http://seis.bris.ac.uk/~mexas/thesis.pdf (Appendix.B).
Dear All,
I am modeling 3D beams with arbitrary cross sections and for that purpose I need to calculate the warping function numerically. The warping function ψ(y,z) is defined as a solution of the following Laplace equation with Neumann boundary conditions:
∂2ψ/∂y2 + ∂2ψ/∂z2 = 0 in Ω,
∂ψ/∂n = z*ny - y*nz on Γ,
where Ω is the cross sectional area, and Γ is its contour. This system can be solved by different numerical methods, for example, finite element method, boundary element method, finite differences...
Numerically I obtain that
