Analytical solution of anisotropic crack or wedges

Submitted by Xiaofei Hu on

Hi everyone,

We know that crack or wedge problems are discussed in the porlar coordinate system which centered at the crack tip. Analytical solution (Irwin's) in an expanding form with unkown constants exist for crack or wedges with any open angle in isoptropic materials. The analytical solutions are always employed as enrichments in FEM, MM, XFEM. When the problem moves to anisotropic materials, does the analytcial solution exist?

dynamic analysis of dam-reservoir interaction

Submitted by a.salajegheh on

Hi all

I am working on sesmic analysis of dam-reservoir interaction and I used ADINA software to analysis the coupled system. I have used potential based fluid elements to define fluid medium. but the coupled dynamic model does not provide the correct answers. I would appricciate if any of you introduce me some one who is familiar with dynamic reservoir-structure modeling in ADINA.

best regards

Looking for a postdoctoral position of synthesis and application of nanocomposites or other materials in energy storage

Submitted by xwguo on

I am looking for a possible opening for a postdoctor concerning the synthesis and utilizations of nanomaterials and metal oxides nanocomposites or any other else in the energy-related materials. I am a PhD candidate now in Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and I will graduate in June 2012.

During my PhD, my work mainly focuses on the synthesis of nanomaterials and carbon materials and evaluate their electrochemical energy storage performances and explore other useful energy storage devices and tecnologies.

Harnessing snap-through instability in soft dielectrics to achieve giant voltage-triggered deformation

Submitted by Christoph Keplinger on

For a dielectric elastomer membrane we show giant voltage-triggered expansion of area by 1692%, far beyond the largest values reported in the literature.
