There is an immediate opening for a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Baylor University in Waco, TX, USA for Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 (negotiable). The position comes with 3 years of research assistantship with support that includes monthly stipend and tuition remission. The general area of interest is in composite materials including both polymeric and ceramic matrix composites. There is a PhD position available for UK/EU students at the School of MACE, University of Manchester.

This PhD opportunity in fluid dynamics/nanocomposite manufacturing at the University of Manchester. We are looking for a motivated student with a strong background in fundamental fluid mechanics, applied mathematics and computer programming.

The ASME Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) Technical Committee for Experimental Mechanics is soliciting oral-only student presentations across four topic areas:

•    11-13: Quantitative Visualization in Fracture & Fatigue
•    11-15: Mechanical Characterization in Extreme Environments
•    11-17: Mechanics of Adhesion and Friction
•    11-18: In-Situ Techniques in Experimental Mechanics

2 PhD Research Assistant positions are immediately available.  The research is on computational mechanics and materials relating to nuclear materials, energy storage materials, proteins, and composite materials.  Applicants with background or interest in related research are preferred.  

Temple University is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Philadelphia is the sixth-most populous U.S. city, about 2 hours drive from New York City and 3 hours drive from Washington DC.
