Requirements:

The candidates must have already earned or should soon earn their M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a closely related field.

Strong background in numerical simulations, finite element analysis, and/or computational solid mechanics

Excellent programming skills and experience with high performance computing

anisotropically in "GEOSTATIC" step (with distortion error)

Hello,

I simulated an isotropically triaxial test with 550000 (Pa) pressure on top and side of model in "geostatic" step. I defined vertical predefined field stress 550000 and lateral coefficient 1 too. I didnt have probloms in that model and the results were right.

Question about the tangential behavior of ABAQUS

Hello everyone, I am using ABAQUS to study the tangential behavior (friction) at the interface between rock-machine. I know tangential behaivour simualtion is key for my model, I read the manual, but still have some puzzels, hoping you could help me, much appreciated in advance!

1. what's the difference among mechanical constraint formulation of penalty contact method (another is kinetic), friction formulation of penalty for tangential behavior, and constraint enforcement method of penalty for normal behavior. the explanation in manual seems ambiguous for me.

Abaqus warning of Negative Eigen value

I am doing a FE formulation of surface elasticity. I wrote UEL for surface elements in addition to abaqus volume elements. But surfaces may have negative stiffness (constitutive relation as per Morton Gurtin's formulation). So as a result I am getting a warning of "Negative eigen values". Can any body tell me how abaqus is solving for this system matrix (with few negative eigen values) in Static General method?
