Abaqus Fictitious Surfaces for Beams -- Help

Submitted by rdgabbai on

All,

Hello. Looking to create a fictitious surface around an Abaqus model that uses beam elements for the purpose of transferring pressure loads from CFD to the beam. We are restricted to using beam elements; indeed, structure is a very long and thin beam.

What is the easiest way to do this?

Most grateful for your help.

keywords error in vumat

Submitted by atefe.geramian on

Dear all,

I constructed a VUMAT subroutine which including 4 state dependent variables, so I wrote "*Initial Conditions, Type=Solution" in keywords. But, when I run the simulation I get this error:

in keyword *PERMEABILITY, file "Job-vumat2.inp", line 102: The keyword is misplaced. It can be suboption for the following keyword(s)/level(s): material

Analysis Input File Processor exited with an error.

Could anybody help me? Thanks a million.

Co-simulation engine error

Submitted by wise2321 on

I am operating a co-simulation analysis in Abaqus. This a kind of interaction between fluid and solid so I am doing co-execution. Unfortunately, when the program run up suddenly I encounter this error " Error in job Co-execution-3-Model-1: Co-Simulation errorError in job Co-execution-3-Model-2: The partner program in the co-simulation has issued a fatal error message.

how to convert total lagrangian tangent stiffness to corotational

Submitted by mjalilych1 on

hello Dear friends

I am working on large displacement of euler beam. I used total lagrangian approach. because of field consistency between degrees of freedom(displacement and theta) tangent stiffness matrix depends on tangant theta and consequently becomes singular for theta=90. so I am seeking for a method to overcome this problem. I believe that the solution is to remove rigid body rotation from analysis. please correct me. is this reasonable. if yes how should I remove rigid bodu rotation

best regards.

A five-year research fellow position at Monash Geomechanics Group, Australia

The position is a research position within the recently launched collaborative research project (“Advanced Condition Assessment and Failure Prediction Technologies for Optimal Management of Critical Water Pipelines” or known as Critical Water Pipe Project). The position is to undertake research components designated in Activity 1 of Critical Water Pipe Project as per Collaborative Research Agreement. Activity 1 covers – How, when and where will pipes fail within the entire network?
