Postdoc or PhD position - Multiscale Modeling of Polymer-Matrix-Composites

Submitted by timon.rabczuk@… on

At the chair of Computational Mechanics (chair Prof. T. Rabczuk) at the Bauhaus University Weimar, there is

1 open position for PhD-student or Post-Doc

for a maximum period of 3 years. The applicant is supposed to work in an international team and should suppose to collaborate with PhD-students and Post-Docs. In this project, effective coarse-graining methods for polymers and polymer-matrix composites should be devised and implemented in our in-house code.

Online finite element analysis of nanoindentation (indentation)

Submitted by sobh on

Dear All,

We (the NanoBIO Node at Illinois ) have a preliminary release of an online finite element analysis of nanoindentation (indentation) tool using FEAP

This preliminary release is limited to linear elastic material, axisymmetric geometry, spherical rigid indenter, and various boundary conditions.

Convergence problem of cohesive element in abaqus

Submitted by Guodong Guo on

Hello,

Would there will be anyone like to share the experiences of using cohesive element in Abaqus. Recently I come across some trick proplems while using the cohesive element with bilinear cohesive law to model the slide of interface.

First,I don't know if there is a exact meaning of the stiffness, but it seems that it is related to the convergence. After many times of trial, I find I can only get a convergent result by using a couple of values. Nevertheless, I don't know the meaning of the stiffness.

quasi-static indenation test simulation in ansys Question ?

Submitted by Ahmed wagih on

Dear all,

I have aproblem with contact peoblem.
I am working in indentation in composite laminate plate the simulation was done using ANSYS. i define surface to surface contact between the rigid indneter and the laminate plate. then, a small displacemnt is applied to the indenter (.005mm) to check the conatct condition.
THE problem?

when applying this small displacemnt i get very large penetration of indneter in the specimen. and i don't know why?
