Postdoctoral Position Available at University of Western Ontario, Canada

Submitted by Zhi Yan on

Position is available for a postdoctoral fellow to carry out an industry sponsored project on carbon fiber composite modeling. The contract is initiated for one year, with possible extension if work progresses satisfactorily. The research will focus on

 (1)  micromechanics modeling of elastic and viscoplastic behavior of injection molded carbon fiber composites;

 (2)  homogenization techniques and constitutive model development for vibration, strength and impact simulations of carbon fiber composites.

Hencky's hyperelastic material model.

Submitted by marcin.wojciechowski on

Hello,

I am working on my master's thesis. I have to find best fitting hyperelastic material model for simple shear test.

My task is to find most proper material model which will fit my laboratory test data. I have conducted the "single lap test" on bricks, using polymer PS.

Effect of vacancy defects on generalized stacking fault energy of fcc metals

Submitted by mohsenzaeem on

http://iopscience.iop.org/0953-8984/26/11/115404/

Molecular dynamics (MD) and density functional theory (DFT) studies were performed to investigate the influence of vacancy defects on generalized stacking fault (GSF) energy of fcc metals.

Element Weakening Method (EWM) in ABAQUS 6.12/6.13

Submitted by pateljay26 on

Hello All,

Currently,I am modeling elasto-plastic buckling of laminated composites. I started with 3 layers (fiber-matrix-fiber) respresenting unit cell of composite. The model is made with material non linearity and incremental approach - Modified Riks Algorithm has been used for buckling analysis. My try would be to get plastic buckling in the model. For this I need to introduce "Element Weakening Method" (EWM) which allows user's choice to assign weak properties or reduced stiffness to the selected elements. Consequently, this helps in propagating damage.

Greetings my dear friends!

I'm Amin and its my first post!I'm studying mechanical Engineering in Semnan University in Iran and by the time  I'm workin' on entropy generation calculation for laminar and terbulent
fully developed forced flow and heat transfer of nanofluids inside
annul.I'd be really glad if anyone could give me hand with it .

Justification for use of Riks method to investigate gross plastic deformation

Submitted by ranababu on

Hi, my question is on the use of Riks and other Arc length methods when analysing  a system for gross plastic deformation. ASME B&PV code , in its investigation for Gross plastic deformation as a Load at which convergence does not take place. Now, as far as I understand, Newton Raphson method fails at locations of singularity in the stiffness matrix and also at Bifurcation points, it can trace the unstable primary paths. Both these issues can be overcome ( provided the limit point is not too sharp) by Riks and other Arc length methods.
