Postdoctoral Fellow Position, Mechanics of Materials, University of New South Wales, Australia

There is an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in Professor Jay Kruzic’s group at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), in Sydney, Australia.  The initial term will be one year, with the potential to extend the appointment for 2-3 years based on performance and availability of funding. 

Key duties:

  • Conduct novel research on the mechanical properties of engineering materials, biomaterials, and biological materials and disseminate outcomes as research papers to be presented at conferences and/or to be published in archival journals.
  • Conduct research under limited supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently.
  • Design experiments, operate advanced laboratory and technical equipment, develop custom mechanical testing apparatus and protocols
  • Supervise and/or assist post-graduate and undergraduate students
  • Work with supervisor to attract competitive grant and/or industry funding

Required qualifications:

  • Have a PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or another closely related discipline.
  • Have strong skills in the mechanical testing and characterization of materials and strong familiarity with the related equipment and software.
  • Have demonstrated capacity to conduct research evidenced by a solid track record of high-quality international peer-reviewed publications.

I am PhD student at Denmark. I have already handed in my PhD thesis and I am waiting for my thesis defense now, which will be middle of Dec 2016.

I have a PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering disciplines and also have skills with mechancial testing (e.g. composite tensile testing) and materials characterization using SEM/FTIR/NIR etc.
