PhD Position in Multiscale Modeling of Materials

Submitted by Kmomeni on

An immediate Ph.D. position is available in the Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of materials synthesis. The candidates must have earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields (applicants with an MSc will be given priority) and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics. Having knowledge of continuum mechanics, finite element modeling, and a programming language is a plus.

Full-Time Position in Schlumberger – FEA

Submitted by Haitao Zhang on

Responsibilities

You will closely collaborate with Schlumberger design engineers in US, Europe, and Asia. You will be performing FEA studies in technically challenging areas such as non-linear solid mechanics, metal plasticity, viscoelastic materials, shock, vibration, heat transfer, composites, and fluid/structure interactions. You will also need to present FEA results to various internal or external clients.

Tenure Track Faculty Positions - University of Pennsylvania

Submitted by Kevin Turner on

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at Penn has an open search for tenure-track/tenured faculty.  We are particularly interested in candidates whose work is at the intersection of mechanical engineering and computational science. Additional details in the attached PDF file. Apply at: https://apply.interfolio.com/71186

Note: This ad was posted on multiple sites this past Fall but didn't appear on iMechanica.  As such, the deadline is quickly approaching and is January 7.

2 Research Assistant/Associate positions in CFD modelling of dust explosions (2 years)

Submitted by Emilio Martíne… on

Applications are invited for two Research Assistant (PhD candidates) or Research Associates (post-docs) positions at the University of Oviedo, in close collaboration with Imperial College London. Research Assistants will be appointed for 2 years while Research Associates will be appointed initially for one year, with the possibility of extending one more year. Conditional upon satisfactory progress, the researchers will have the opportunity to divide their time between the University of Oviedo and Imperial College upon their convenience.

PhD positions in Mechanical Engineering - University of South Carolina

Submitted by Caizhi Zhou on

PhD positions are available in Dr. Caizhi Zhou's group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering - University of South Carolina. Research projects may involve crystal plasticity finite element modeling. The students will receive rigorous training and interact intensively with their academic advisor. The financial support will be in the form of GRA with a monthly stipend of approximately $2500 for 12 months each year (the tuition will be waived). Financial aids are also available for students to attend professional conferences.

Submitted by YuetingSun on

We are seeking motivated PhD students with a background in mechanical engineering, material science, physics, chemistry, or in a closely related field. Candidates with interests in (but not limited to) one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

· Material properties under high strain rate deformation;

· Energy absorption and protection against impact, vibration and blast;

· Nanoporous materials, including MOFs, zeolites, and silica;

· Nanofluidics and microfluidics;

3-year postdoc position on (coarse-grained) molecular dynamics

Submitted by Patrick Onck on

The Onck-group at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands has an opening for a post-doctoral position in the field of (coarse-grained) molecular dynamics of proteins. The candidate should have a background in molecular dynamics of hard or soft matter and is not afraid to enter a new research direction. The post-doc position is part of the oLife Fellowship Programme, a joint initiative by seven research institutes in The Netherlands for interdisciplinary research on fundamental questions concerning the origin and evolution of life. The university of Groningen is a top-1
