We have one or more postdoc positions available, to be filled immediately, in my research group. We are looking for postdocs in the broad area of computational mechanics.  Candidates should have expertise in modeling dynamic responses of path-dependent materials. Our project is specifically focused on the development and validation of multiscale models for energetic/porous/polycrystalline materials across length scales. The work will be dedicated to the caracterisation (numercial and experimental) of the effect of grains boundary on the Hydrogen diffusion in Nickel polycrystals.

EnergyX Lab (Energy Exploration Laboratory) at Michigan Technological University is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill an open post-doctoral position. The group has extensive collaboration and active research projects in different energy-related areas with several leading US national laboratories as well as US companies.

The selected candidate will participate in the two following projects:

The Postdoctoral Scholar is responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of scientific research in the discipline of computational and experimental biomechanics. Responsibilities include management of all aspects of research related to biomechanical characterization and computer modeling of biological tissue and implants in Vahdati Lab. The research projects include investigation of mechanopathologies of soft and calcified tissue and design of personalized medical devices.

We recently presented an original research that uses 3d printing to realise the mimicry of the microstructure observed in crystalline metals to employ crystals’ hardening mechanisms to develop robust and damage-tolerant architected materials (Nature 2019; 565:305 - https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-018-0850-3).
