3D Doctor Tool

Submitted by prabhjot.juneja on

Hi,

I hope this is the right forum to get some help for my work.

I am looking at CT data (DICOM files) to make FEM models. To generate 3D surface/volumes for FEM, I was looking for softwares. They all are pretty expensive (4-10K USD). I have decide togo with Able Software's 3D-DOCTOR. I am lookign for some reviews or user experience or comments for this tool.

Thanks

Modeling the dynamic mechanical analysis of a single pulp fiber

Hi there,

I am trying to model the DMA test for single pulp fiber. In this research I can I assume whatever procedure or materials parameters I need, from an old PhD thesis I took some materials parameters for the cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin and by using the composite theories I calculated the stiffness matrices for each constituent I have and from there I calculated the stiffness matrix of the fiber, and of course calculated the longitudinal young’s modulus of the fiber at the room temperature.

Hi,

I'm a fresher in abaqus. Now I'm trying to simulate the damage of brittle kind of materials, like concrete with abaqus on mesoscale. But there are some problems now...

The potential for Vanadium in molecular dynamic simulation

Submitted by Shuozhi Xu on

One of the most significant factors in molecular dynamic simulatin is to choose the proper potential. Recently, I did some searching jobs on Vanadium (V) potential and finally decided which potential I am going to use. Here is a simple summary:

FEM simulation on damage of brittle materials with Abaqus on mesoscale

Hi,

I'm a fresher in abaqus. Now I'm trying to simulate the damage of brittle kind of materials, like concrete with abaqus on mesoscale. But there are some problems now...

The random meso-structure has already been generated by matlab, but I don't know how to import the information of the geometry which are some coordinates? I find the file formats which could be read by abaqus, like Autocad .dxf,.step...but I'm not sure how to do it exactly since geometry information are in terms of coodinates in matlab.

Dynamic simulations with nonlinear material into Explicit

Submitted by malbi on

Hi all,

I am new in the Forum, and I am looking for some informations regarding how to simulate nonlinear material in explicit.

I am tryng to analyse the behaviour of a roller rolling on the sand (or mud), but the results I get with a basic elasto-plastic material are not very accurate, expecially because I cannot set the tension allowed in the sand to be zero.

Other ways to input nonlinearity in Explicit are always refused by ABAQUS. Is there any way to get something more accurate?

Some problems in the paper:" Haversian cortical bone model with many radial microcraks: An elastic analytic solution".

Dear all,

I have read the paper titled Haversian cortical bone model with many radial microcraks: An elastic analytic solution. My problems and the paper are attached.I hope you can see the problems and the corresponding paper. Thanks for your help.

How to input displacement as a tabular function of frequency during harmonic analysis in Anys Workbench 12.0

I am currently involved in performing dynamic analysis of particular
assemblies and working in ansys workbench 12.0. Currently I am stuck with a
problem, while performing harmonic analysis I need to input displacement as a
tabular function of frequency but inspite of all my efforts could not find a
solution to this problem. Also the assembly is connected to the vibrating base
via mounting feets. Now in that case should the displacement field be applied
to the holes of the mounting feet or the entire base plate of the assembly that
