wear of articulating surface of joint replacement

Submitted by Muhsin Salim on

Hi everyone out there...

Now i'm working on biomechanics research project which deals with the articulating surface of joint replacement, where one of the main problem were the wear of sliding contact (i.e., metal on polymer,metal on metal or polymer on ceramics).wear debris or particles generated from this articulating surface can causes the damage of the bone cell around the joint replacement.My question are;

K&C Model for UMAT

Submitted by Zon Dol on

Hi everyone

I want to use Abaqus Implicit UMAT with K&C model to modelling concrete behavior .

As I know, when using Implicit, we have to update Jacobian stiffness matrix.

Is there anyone can help me? Please show me how to establidh and update stiffness matrix for K&C model.

Thank you very much,

Zon Dol

meshfree softwares or packages

Submitted by babak on

Hello to everybody

I want to detect strain localization in geological materials and follow the path and the way that shear band propagate in seismic condition, so I want to know is there any meshfree commercial package to handle dynamic nonlinear analysis for geological materials specially rock and soil. Does exist Even a good source code that i improve it (not so much) and make it effecient for my purpose ?

I appreciate anyone help me and give me information in such field.

Entropic-elasticity-controlled dissociation and energetic-elasticity-controlled rupture induce catch to slip bonds in cell-adhes

In order to achieve a wide variety of biological phenomena, the abilities of cells to contact effectively and interact specifically with neighboring media play a central role. It is known that cells can sense the chemical and mechanical properties of surrounding systems and regulate their adhesion and movement through binding protein molecules within cell membrane. The kinetics of binding molecules interacting with ligands is of great interest in biophysical society. There are lots of discussions and contributions on cell mechanics from our mechanical society, e.g.

Recent developments in computational cell and biomolecular mechanics have provided valuable insights into the mechanical properties of cells, subcellular components and biomolecules, while simultaneously complementing new experimental techniques used for deciphering the structure–function paradigm in living cells. These computational approaches have direct implications in understanding the state of human health and the progress of disease and can therefore aid immensely in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Metal Foam fracture

Submitted by mhmd abdelshafy on

Dear All

I'm working on studing the use of metal foam in sandwich structre containing Al or steel plate to overcome an impact shells or plates at differnet impact velocity but the prblem that I face how to define the failure critrion of Meat foam except difine the crushable foam properties, and I've read a paper on using cohesive element but i don'nt know how to use it.

Hopefully some one can help me solving this prblem, by the way I'm using ABAQUS v6.6
