Hello every body

I am a novice (new one) on this web site and I just began, I am preparing my master on composites and I think that you have more informations than me on this subject my problem is that Iam in the coparative step between my results and the others.

my work is on the crack of composites mode II (sliding mode) I'm modelizing that phenomen with finit element to find the enegy of sustitution the problem is that I have not found any results by web and unfotunatly we have not books on this subject in my university.

crack velocity and FGM

Submitted by heqilin on

hi, everybody

i am going to simulate crack propagate by ABAQUS, but i haven't used ABAQUS before.

now i have two problems:

 1) can abaqus calculate the velocity of crack advancing?

2)FGM(functionally graded materials ). material property varies at

different position, such as density ,modulus, possion ration. can

abaqus deal with this problem by umat .

thanks.

Mechanical threshold stress model for 6061-T6 aluminum

Submitted by Biswajit Banerjee on

Our paper on the Mechanical threshold stress (MTS) model for 6061-T6 aluminum has been accepted by JoMMS.  There are several things of interest in the paper:

1) The use of a phonon drag model to predict the sharp increase in flow stress at strain rates above 10,000 /s.  This behavior is seen in a  number of materials and is hard to fit using standard power law plasticity models.  Our model does a good job in this regard.

Interfacial moisture diffusion using cohesive zone elements

Hello every body,

As most of you know, fracture mechanics of polymer materials needs a special consideration of the viscoelastic material properties. Especially under thermomechanical loading the role of glass transition temperature T_g is very important. That is why people try to characterize the material with different methods including stress relaxation based on Time-Temperature superposition or DMA test.
