Postdoctoral Opportunity at UT Austin

Submitted by Rui Huang on

Professors Kenneth Liechti and Rui Huang in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Texas Austin have an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to engage in a funded project in the area of multilayered van der Waals materials. Although the project involves both experiments and modeling, the thrust of this position will be experimental. Accordingly, we seek a creative individual who has prior experience in conducting nanomechanical experiments with 2D materials.

Postdoc Position in Computational Nanomechanics

Submitted by Harold S. Park on

I am looking to recruit a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to study, via the development of new computational methodologies, the deformation mechanisms in crystalline nanostructures.  The specific emphasis is on predicting the plasticity at timescales that far exceed those possible in classical atomistic simulations, and verifying the predictions through collaborations with experimentalists.  The position is available as soon as possible for at least a 1.5-year duration, with possible extension to future years depending on the availability of funding.

Research Fellow in High Resolution Microscopy of Engineering Alloys

Submitted by Noel ODowd on

A position as a postdoctoral Research Fellow is available at the University of Limerick, Ireland (https://www.ul.ie/;  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ireland). The successful candidate will be part of a team working on the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded frontiers of the future project: Physically-based modelling of bainitic and martensitic steels for flexible and sustainable power generation and distribution (PrOCCESS).

Postdoctoral position in nanomechanics of 2D nanomaterials

Submitted by exw569 on

The School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) to develop computational models of ultra-flexible 2D nanomaterials in sheared liquids, using techniques borrowed from computational fluid and solid mechanics.

PhD Position in Multiscale Modeling of Hierarchical Materials

Submitted by Kmomeni on

A PhD position is open for summer or fall 2017 in Advanced Hierarchical Materials by Design Lab at Louisiana Tech University on multiscale modeling of hierarchical materials with an emphasis on nanocomposites. The candidates must have earned a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields and have a solid background in theoretical and computational mechanics, specifically continuum mechanics and finite element modeling, and need to have the knowledge of w.riting computer code (preferably using C/C++).
