electroadhesion of rough surfaces, with application to touch screen technology
Just submitted a paper on electroadhesion of rough surfaces, greatly simplifying the recent theory of the great Bo Persson , with hot application to touch screens : see here.
Comments welcome.
Tenure Track Position of Solid Mechanics (SUNY Binghamton)
Job Description:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Binghamton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in solid mechanics at the assistant professor level beginning Fall 2020. Candidates must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Post-doc position in microstructure modeling at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore
The Additive Microstructure Engineering Laboratory (AddME Lab) in the school of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU (Singapore) is a young, diverse, and interdisciplinary research group with interests in in-line microstructure control and assessment during selective laser melting (SLM) processes. In this framework, we are collaborating with the Institute of High Performance Computing under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), to simulate the microstructure of metals produced during SLM.
Call for Abstract: WCCM 2020, Paris, France :: COMPUTATIONAL MECHANICS AND MULTISCALE MODELING IN MANUFACTURING OF LOW-DIMENSIONAL MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES
Dear Colleagues,
Please consider submitting abstracts to our mini-symposium at the 14th World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM XIV), Paris, France. The abstract submission deadline is December 15, 2019.

Call for Abstracts: Numisheet 2020 mini symposium on “Challenges and Opportunities in Forming Aluminum”
The NUMISHEET conference series is the most significant international conference on the area of the numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes. Within Numisheet 2020, we are organizing a mini symposium on “Challenges and Opportunities in Forming Aluminum”.
Additive manufacturing of ceramics from preceramic polymers
Additive manufacturing of ceramics from preceramic polymers
Following extensive research by our outstanding doctoral candidate here, Dr. Wang, a publication in the journal Additive Manufacturing is now in press.
Enhancing dissolution of hydroxyapatite
Improved oxidation resistance of high emissivity coatings for reusable space systems
Here novel disilicides were explored for use in heat shields.
WSi2 and MoSi2 were applied as coatings on an insulating zirconia substrate.
The high emissivity of these compounds and their mixtures, makes them very attractive for use in spacecraft.
Compressive performance of MAX phase composites
Compressive performance and crack propagation in MAX phase composites
Here micro CT was used to reveal the structure performance relationships in metal/ceramic composites based on Ti2AlC / Al alloy combinations.
The results show the promise of infiltrated max phase materials in the production of high performance composites.
