Question: ANSYS & Laminate Composite Plate

Submitted by L2020 on

Hi friends
I want to use ANSYS to find the maximum deflection of a laminate composite plate that is made of graphite epoxy .It has 100 mm width and 500 mm length.
The layup is [45(10),0(10)]  (20 Layers).
The plate is simply supported along all 4 edges and is subjected to a uniformly distributed transverse direction load p=10,000 N/m2.

The material properties of the layers are as below:

Graduate Student or Graduate Employee?

Submitted by Amit.Ranade on

Lately I have been thinking that "Graduate Student" is a misnomer. The correct title should be "Graduate Research Assistant" or "Graduate Engineer".  After more than a year spent in industry, I think that there really is no difference in the work done. Except that the work environment is more flexible in academia.

Embedded Elliptical Crack Modeling Problem

Submitted by Sadanand Renapurkar on

I am  modeling an  embedded elliptical crack in finite solid in ANSYS 10.0.For mode-II and III calculation of energy release rate, I am not able to transform the forces in the local coordinate system as required in case of elliptical cracks. The loading is perpendicular to crack.

Please help me with the required Force Tranformations. In case of elliptical cracks forces obtained from ANSYS are in global coordinate system as Fx,Fyand Fz.I need to transform Fy and Fz in local coordinate system.

GROWTH of NANOTUBE

Submitted by utpal on

Hi ,

I have read your post and came to know that you are using
DL_POLY for nano simulation. I am beginners in the field of MD. I am
using DL_POLY_3. Can you please tell me that is it possible to simulate
the GROWTH of NANOTUBE using DL_POLY?

I  am waiting for your reply

thanks and regards
