Marginal Probability Density Function of Stochastic Process

Submitted by crg123 on

I was solving the following question and I derived the Auto correlation function and proved that it is a WSS process. However, I am not sure how to go about finding the Marginal probability density function. Should I find joint probability of a and b and then find marginal probability of each random variable?

Limitations of using Reliability, Availability & Maintainability software applications for engineering asset management

Submitted by iojior on

Does anyone have experience in using RAMs software applications?

I am working on a paper that looks at the limitations of managing risk and improving reliability of engineering assets by using RAMs software applications but I have no experience in using any RAMs software application.

Software applications are good for storing data and interpreting that data based on a predefined set of rules. However, recommendations made by such an application will only be as be based solely on the data available to the application.

Extended deadline for abstract submission ESMC2015 "Micro and Nano Mechanics"

Submitted by Ettore Barbieri on

Fellow iMechanicians,

the deadline for submission for the next European Solid Mechanics Conference has been extended to the 30th November.

The conference will be the "place-to-be" next year in the Solid Mechanics community, with a truly outstanding line-up for the plenary lectures.

In particular, I am co-organizing with Nicola Pugno a mini-symposium on Micro and Nano Mechanics

Converged, but to the right solution??

Submitted by setareh on

Hello eveybody,

I am confused in using numerical schemes: What can convergence of a numerical scheme tell us and what not??? lets assume that a numerical scheme does converge to "A result" or "A number", but how could we be sure that the scheme has actually converged to the "RIGHT solution" and not a WRONG one??

Any input is appreciated!

von Mises or Equivalent stress for Beam Elements

Submitted by ALL on

Are there analytical expressions for computing von Mises or equivalent stress at any point for Beam elements similar to the ones in continuum elements? I would like to design a structure with beam elements and ensure that the equivalent stress is within bounds (yield stress etc) for the structure to be safe.
