Output Total Force on a Straight Line

Submitted by SBS on

Dear All,

I am using ANSYS 13.0 APDL to simulate a elastic model to calculate stress intensity factor. I got the solution successfully. However, I want to verify the answer with theoretical solution from crack analysis handbook. So I need to output the total force on a straightline.

Strain Gradient Plasticity

Submitted by Mubeen on

Hi all,

I have a strange question that has puzzled me since last almost one year.

There are many SG-plasticity models in the technical literature, sometimes categorized as lower-order or higher-order models.

The problem is :

the constitutive models include the gradient of plastic parameters (e.g. plastic slip).

Solid/Fluid Mechacnics

Hi,

In my research i am trying to develop a new model for plastic deformation, and i suspect there is a strong similarity between

plasticity and turbulent flow !.

My question is: if there is workd done trying to apply Reynolds decomposition (Reynolds Stress) to the governing equations and solved plasticity problem in Solids?

thanks,

Nonlinear geometric effects in mechanical bistable morphing structures

Submitted by zichen on

Bistable structures, exemplified
by the Venus flytrap and slap bracelets, can switch between different
functional shapes upon actuation, and have important applications in
mechanical/electro-mechanical devices ranging from bio-inspired robots to
deployable aeroplane wings. Despite numerous efforts in modeling such large
deformation of shell structures, the roles of mechanical and nonlinear geometric
effects on bistability remains elusive. Closely related, emerging challenges
include modeling the spontaneous curving and buckling of thin objects such as

electro-mechanical properties of the 3M VHB electro-active polymer tape

Dear modellers

do you work with electrostrictive polymer actuators and need their properties for your simulations? If so, you will find the paper below interesting: we have tested the most popular material for EAP applications.
