Simpleware present Animations Contest Winners

Submitted by Simpleware on

We are pleased to show the results of our 2015 Animations Contest, which offered our users the chance to demonstrate their innovative work by having their 3D image data converted into a high-quality animation by our experienced engineers.

Now receiving submissions, Extreme Mechanics Letters – Special Issue on ‘Frontiers of mechanical metamaterials’

Submitted by Osama R. Bilal on

This themed issue on mechanical metamaterials invites contributions from different perspectives with the aim of highlighting the latest advances in the field.

The themed issue will focus on mechanical metamaterials in the general sense. This includes acoustic and elastic metamaterials as well as other types of metamaterials with unique mechanical and/or thermal properties at any length scale.

Topics of interest include the following:

School of Engineering, Stanford University - Assistant or untenured Associate Professor

Submitted by StanfordEE on

The School of Engineering at Stanford University (http://soe.stanford.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor) in the broadly defined field of robotics and autonomous systems. Priority will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate’s work over any particular specialization area or department affiliation.

Webinar - Accurate and rapid 3D multi-point optimization of Turbomachinery by Integration of TURBOdesign1 with ANSYS Workbench

Emission regulations such as the EU ECOdesign or US Department of Energy Pump Systems directives require pumps to be designed based on their life cycle emissions and hence require pump stages to be optimized considering multiple operating points.

Second derivatives of displacement field ABAQUS

Submitted by rpenidef on

Hello everyone,

I need to compute the second derivatives of displacement field in ABAQUS, in the integration point of quadratic elements if it is possible. I thought about using USDFLD subrutine, but I am stuck with getting the Jacobian matrix that couples the isoparametric space with the physical space in ABAQUS. GETVRM is what everyone suggests to get variables from abaqus, however I did not find the definitions of JMAC, JMATYP... so I do not know what I can get from that subrutine exactly.

NonLinear Beam formulation

Submitted by xhawk on

Hello,

I am phd student in mechanical engineering. I want to use of total lagrangian formulation for analysis of a cantilever beam element using UEL abaqus subroutines. my difficulty is how to calculate the internal load and the tangent stiffness matrix. my code does not converge. can you help me. if there is a simple code I was wondering if someone aware me.

Thanks in advance
