Abaqus tire wear analysis

Submitted by Joe Elliott on

Hi all,

I am trying to complete the tire wear analysis example problem in the Abaqus user manual but I am having trouble with the input files. I have fetched them from the zip file using the fetch utility and I can import the first file (treadwear_axi.inp) in to Abaqus 6.9 but I am unsure how to continue as the other files do not appear to be complete.

Could someone please suggest to me the next steps to inport the remaining files and run the analysis.

Many Thanks

Journal Club Theme of April 2012: Phononics: Structural Dynamics of Materials

Submitted by mihussein on

Engineering structures are made out of materials and as such there is a natural hierarchy in which a material’s intrinsic properties contribute to shaping up the structure’s response. It is possible however to reverse this hierarchy and engineer materials that are made out of structures. In this case, the intrinsic properties of a material are shaped by the structural response. Such a configuration can only be realized with a repeated structure, forming an array of identical unit cells.

PhD with Wind Energy topic in Bremen/Oldenburg/Hamburg area

Submitted by f.perrone2 on

Hi Everybody,

I am an Italian mechanical engineer. It's one year I've been in the Wind energy business. I served the Fraunhofer IWES in Bremerhaven within the "Simulation and Assessment of Wind Turbines" in the periods March/June 2011 and October 2011/January 2012: I was involved in the modeling of a 3D turbulent wind field approaching the WEC. I developed in Matlab two models: the Sandia Model and the Mann model.

Since March I hold the position of Load Calculation Engineer at Areva Wind GmbH.
