Hi

I was modeled a frame @ 6 plates that this plates must be attached to the below frame by some plastic nonlinear translational spring

the specification of this springs ( force-displacement curve) is available & this propety must be define to springs in abaqus model. I can not find this spring in abaqus ,define this propery .hepl me pease to solve this problem.

thanks alot

Rigid body impact with steel plate, Error with too many atempts for this increment

Submitted by nilu on

I am getting this warning message many times " system matrix has 1 negative eigenvalues", strain increment too large, and finally stop with the error "Too many attempts made for this increment.

I modelled a Steel Barge(front part of ship) with shell elements and it is impacted by  a rigid body. When the rigid body was given a displacement of 2.5 inches it runs. But when I increase the displacement to more than that it doesnt work. I should get the Force displacement behaviour of barge by impacting this rigid pier in to it at least 20-40inch.

Scholarships for research exchange in Canada for graduate students of central and south americas

Submitted by Frederick Gosselin on

The Canadian government offers scholarships ranging between 7500 CDN$ and 10000 CDN$ for graduate students of central/south americas to conduct research internships in Canadian universities. The internships are to last for a duration of 4-6 months.

I am looking for graduate students enrolled in an engineering/scientific program in one of the eligible countries (see below) interested in coming to Polytechnique in Montreal in the next academic year 2012-2013. I have many projects combining fluid and solid mechanics as well as theory and experiments.

hi hi

how can i print this results in abaqus explicit ?????????

1-load deflection curve

2- impact load with time

my model is reinforced column hit by rigid body by giving it velocity and weight , and i cant know text use in (inp) file to print this results

Three-ways to derive the Euler-Bernoulli-Saint Venant Beam Theory

Submitted by Wenbin Yu on

After having taught graduate structural mechanics for several years, I am finally
able to write down my lecture notes (attached) for teaching the beam theory. In
the notes, we formulated the complete classical beam model
(extension/torsion/bending in two directions), which is also called
Euler-Bernoulli-Saint beam theory, in three ways: Newtonian method, variational
method, and variational asymptotic method, using 3D elasticity theory as the
starting point. Many self-contradictions of the various assumptions used in both
Newtonian method and variational method are clearly pointed out. The

Crack problems in A380 and BOEING 787

Submitted by stathis on

A point in which I may contribute from my oint of view is the crack problrem because of asymmetric bending

or because of the "off axis" bending. It is a problem in which I am working with Professor Sideridis at this time in National Technical University of Athens.
